Fenwick Rods

Dating back over 50 years ago, Fenwick rods have a long, rich tradition. It started out in 1952 when a group of five Seattle businessmen in Kent, Washington joined together to form a fishing rod company. The men were intrigued by the new fiberglass blanks that were becoming available so they decided to build around that.

The company first began constructing rods out in a double garage near the men's home on Lake Fenwick. They decided that it would be a good idea to brand their rods around the lake were it all started hence the name Fenwick rods. In 1967 the company moved to Westminster under their new owner Phil Clock, who was a world class leader and marketer.

Clock's first move was to begin buying up all the blanks Don Green could make, so in 1968 the company took over the Grizzly Blank operation and Don Green, who was a talented engineer, joined the company.  With tournament bass fishing becoming ever so popular the company decided to develop some of the first ever rods geared specifically toward bass fisherman such as the famous Lunkerstick. Quickly the company developed a great reputation among bass fisherman as it already had among fly rod, spinning and saltwater anglers.

A few years later in 1973, graphite was introduced which quickly got the attention of rod designers everywhere. This revolutionary material was not only lighter and stronger than fiberglass, it was also stiffer as well. The rod manufacturer seized the opportunity and had became the first rod company to build and manufacture an all-graphite fishing rod, the famous HMG or High Modulus Graphite. This technology made quite an impact not only in the production of fishing rods but in the way anglers fished also.

As well as being the first rod company to introduce the graphite rod, Fenwick also began focusing on specific markets as well. This led to the introduction of technique-specific rods such as the Flippin stick which created an all together new method of bass fishing.

Since then Fenwick has continued the process of making the best quality rods around. They have a huge selection of rods ranging from their world class fly rods, to there famous HMG series, and another popular series known as the HMX series.

The company's fly rods are known for their beauty, craftsmanship, and above all performance. The HMG and HMX series both contain multiple rod types specifically designed for the type of fishing you are going to be doing or the fish you are after. Every component of the rod from length, to power, to tip action are all different. All Fenwick rods are a really great choice for any fisherman, no matter if you are an average angler or a tournament pro.
